About the position

Tetra Tech is seeking a Mid-Level Civil Engineer for its Glen Allen, VA office. This role involves collaborating with industry experts to address complex engineering challenges, particularly in the renewable energy sector. Responsibilities

  • Design engineering solutions for energy-related projects, focusing on renewable energy, particularly solar.
  • Manage the erosion and sediment control plan approval process for renewable projects through regulatory channels.
  • Apply knowledge of surface water quality and stormwater management in both construction and post-construction settings.
  • Plan, design, and maintain stormwater infrastructure and green infrastructure projects.
  • Utilize civil and environmental engineering principles in project execution, including grading and site layout.
  • Mentor junior staff and assist in their professional development.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, both in writing and verbally.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in an Engineering related major.
  • 5-8 years of experience in engineering design for energy-related projects.
  • Professional Engineering License or passing of the FE/EIT is preferred.
  • Experience with renewable energy projects, especially solar in utility-scale and distribution generation.
  • Knowledge of erosion and sediment control plan approval processes for renewable projects.
  • Understanding of hydrology, fluvial processes, and applicable environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software such as HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and ArcGIS.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with low impact development projects and BMPs.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
