About the position

Wood is currently seeking a Mid-Level Civil / Structural Engineer with a strong background in the process and chemical industry. This position is based at our Park Ten Office in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of civil and structural engineering principles, particularly as they apply to the process and chemical sectors. The role involves working on various projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring that engineering designs meet both client specifications and industry standards. As a Mid-Level Engineer, you will be expected to take on significant responsibilities, including the design and analysis of structures, preparation of engineering reports, and participation in project planning and execution. You will also be involved in reviewing and approving design calculations and drawings, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations. The position requires effective communication skills to liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders, as well as the ability to mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on technical issues. Local candidates are preferred for this role, as there is no relocation assistance or per diem offered. Candidates must have authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship. This is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the growth and success of the engineering team at Wood.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze civil and structural engineering projects in the process and chemical industry.
  • Prepare engineering reports and documentation for project specifications.
  • Review and approve design calculations and drawings to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers on technical issues.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders regarding project progress and requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in civil/structural engineering, specifically in the process and chemical industry.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering design principles and relevant codes and regulations.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools for design and analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience with project management and leadership roles.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and other design software.
