About the position

The Mid-Level Cybersecurity Analyst will join the Digital Engineering Department at nou Systems in Huntsville, AL, contributing to the development of secure and reliable technology solutions for federal marketspaces. This role involves implementing security policies, monitoring systems for incidents, and ensuring compliance with various security standards. The analyst will work closely with government personnel and stakeholder teams to manage security infrastructure and respond to vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, implement security policies, procedures, and guidelines to safeguard the customer IT Portfolio and maintain compliance with NIST, FISMA requirements and other best practices.
  • Actively monitor systems and respond in the event of a security incident through a documented and approved system security plan.
  • Support the management of systems security infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and security software.
  • Conduct monthly vulnerability scans, create monthly Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM), implement patches, and ensure controls are reviewed and modified as needed.
  • Meet regularly with stakeholder teams to coordinate responses to vulnerabilities and risks identified in scans and POAMs.
  • Support Government personnel in obtaining and/or maintaining system Authority to Operate (ATO) status requiring compliance with the requirements.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for all information and system security related matters, advising Government personnel of best practices and documenting all aspects of the security program.

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience or equivalent certifications.
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a scientific, technical, or engineering field such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or similar.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.), including system administration and security/vulnerability scanning and remediation.
  • AWS or Azure certifications.
  • Security +, CISSP and other security certifications.
  • Experience in implementing and managing security solutions in compliance regulated environments.
  • Scripting and automation skills are a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Effective technical writing skills to assist with policies, procedures, reporting and compliance.
  • A passion for technology and a commitment to staying updated on industry trends.
