About the position

Onyx Point is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to join its distributed operations team, focusing on developing modular cloud technologies and optimized infrastructure for the Department of Defense. This role is crucial for supporting the U.S. Navy's Spectral Program, which aims to enhance signals intelligence and electronic warfare capabilities. The engineer will work on creating adaptable CI/CD pipelines and ensuring high-quality software delivery in distributed environments, ultimately supporting the nation's warfighters.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy advanced cloud-enabled combat systems for the Spectral program.
• Bridge the gap between development and operations to ensure seamless software code deployment.
• Build and deploy automation tools and distributed infrastructure for high-quality software delivery.
• Optimize deployment pipelines and leverage automated infrastructure as code.
• Implement health and status remoting capabilities across distributed environments.
• Automate routine tasks using scripting and programming tools like Python and Java.
• Collaborate within team constructs and engage in paired programming.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, System Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, Software Engineering, or related fields.
• Knowledge of scripting and programming languages (Python, Java, Bash, Go).
• Strong understanding of containerization technologies and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Gitlab, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, etc.).
• Active Top Secret/SCI DoD Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with cloud/hybrid/on-prem environments.
• Familiarity with database management (SQL).
• Experience with agile methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
• Knowledge of cloud security best practices (AWS certifications).
• Knowledge with Kubernetes orchestration and deployments (Kubernetes Certified Administrator).
• Familiarity with CI/CD toolchains (Certified Jenkins Engineer, Gitlab).
• Knowledge with Terraform (Hashicorp certified Terraform Associate).
• Familiarity with security methodologies and tools (SonarQube, etc.).
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and communication skills.
• Security certifications (Sec+, CCNA, SSCP).
