Nuclear Power is a carbon-free energy source. Our nuclear power generation clients are digitizing their existing power plants and building new nuclear power plants, including small modular reactors (SMR). This expansion has led to an increased demand for skilled professionals in the Instrumentation and Controls Engineering group at Sargent & Lundy. We are currently seeking several I&C Engineers to join our team. This mid-level design engineering position offers a variety of interesting and challenging opportunities in nuclear Instrument and Controls Engineering, providing an excellent platform for career advancement. In this role, you will interface with discipline engineers and designers on the Project Team, as well as with clients, to ensure that all client requirements are met. You will be involved in major process controls engineering projects, focusing on areas such as digital systems, including PLC, DCS, touchscreen displays, network switches, and control systems. Your responsibilities will also include developing functional requirements and procurement specifications for instrumentation and control systems specific to nuclear power plants, as well as conducting process instrumentation replacement evaluation reports. Additionally, you will prepare documentation for design input for drawing production, including cable block diagrams and schematics. You will interface with vendors to prepare equipment purchase specifications and create reports and studies that present technical information clearly and concisely to meet client requirements. Participation in client meetings and performing site walkdowns will be essential to ensure client satisfaction with our work product. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced nuclear instrumentation and controls design engineers. This position is based on a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office work three days per week.
