Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Mid-Level Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our expanding team in Augusta, Georgia. This position is integral to our efforts in supporting nuclear power generation clients who are digitizing their existing power plants and constructing new facilities, including small modular reactors (SMR). As a mid-level design engineering role, this position offers a variety of interesting and challenging opportunities in the field of nuclear Instrumentation and Controls Engineering, providing an excellent platform for career advancement. In this role, you will collaborate closely with discipline engineers and designers on the Project Team, as well as with clients, to ensure that all client requirements are met satisfactorily. Your work will encompass major process controls engineering projects, focusing on areas such as digital systems, including PLC, DCS, touchscreen displays, network switches, and control systems. You will also be responsible for developing functional requirements and procurement specifications for instrumentation and control systems specifically tailored for nuclear power plants. Your responsibilities will include preparing documentation for design input for drawing production, which involves creating cable block diagrams and schematics. You will interface with vendors to prepare equipment purchase specifications and generate reports and studies that present technical information clearly and concisely to meet client requirements. Additionally, you will attend client meetings and perform site walkdowns to ensure client satisfaction with our deliverables. As a mentor, you will provide guidance to less experienced nuclear instrumentation and controls design engineers, fostering their professional development. This position operates on a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office work three days per week, allowing for a balance between collaborative in-person work and remote flexibility.
