About the position

ZGF Architects is seeking a Mid-Level Interior Architect / Designer to join their Washington, DC office. The role requires a dynamic individual with strong communication and technical skills, who can work independently and collaboratively on various design projects. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of professional experience and a passion for design excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Perform interior design/architectural assignments with general direction and work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Assist in developing design and technical solutions for projects in all phases, including graphics, renderings, and performance metrics.
  • Provide production of design drawings, presentation drawings, and digital models in support of design teams.
  • Research products and materials, and review existing projects to inform design documentation.
  • Assist in the project's narrative for meeting building performance goals, including metrics and design integration.
  • Contribute to the effective performance of the Project Team regarding project quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Assist in the execution of Construction Administration responsibilities and project close-out.
  • Contribute to general office-wide initiatives and marketing efforts.
  • Demonstrate motivation in seeking new responsibilities and challenges.
  • Help build relationships with clients and consultants with team leaders.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff.

Requirements

  • A professional Interior Design or Architectural degree.
  • 5-10 years of related experience.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and passionate.
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent team communication skills, design presentation, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience detailing and execution of construction documents with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with complex multi-phased higher education, healthcare, and/or corporate workplace projects is desired.
  • Proficiency in Revit, Enscape, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Furniture specification and documentation experience preferred.
  • NCIDQ Certified and/or licensed architects with LEED, WELL, or FITWEL accreditation are preferred.
