About the position

The Mechanical Engineer position at Applied Technical Services, Inc. involves working as a consultant in the field of mechanical integrity. The role focuses on performing inspections and evaluations of industrial equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and managing projects related to mechanical integrity assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections of industrial equipment such as storage tanks, pressure vessels, piping systems, and rotating equipment.
  • Generate calculations in accordance with API, ASME, etc.
  • Generate written reports documenting findings and evaluations.
  • Develop ACAD drawings as needed for projects.
  • Manage projects ranging from $60,000 to $100,000.
  • Oversee and manage field technicians during inspections and evaluations.
  • Prepare detailed reports for clients and stakeholders.
  • Maintain and manage client relationships effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or possibly Materials Engineering.
  • Entry level to 5 years of experience in tank, vessel, and piping integrity assessment, design, and/or mechanical integrity program management.
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical engineering or related fields.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and possess a positive attitude.
  • Familiarity with standard construction codes and processes.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to meet physical demands such as climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and working outdoors in industrial environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications such as API-510, API-653, API-570, STI, CWI.
  • 2+ years of experience in Mechanical Integrity.
  • 2+ years of experience in Equipment Reliability.
  • 2+ years of experience in non-destructive testing applications.
  • Professional Engineer License or Engineer in Training (EIT).
  • Knowledge in Compress software.
  • Knowledge in AutoCAD.
  • Prior military experience.
  • Experience in non-destructive testing, failure analysis, and codes such as ASME Section VIII Division 1, API 653, API 510, and API 570.
  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis methods (Solidworks).
  • Certifications as ASNT Level II in NDT methods (UT) and API certifications.
