About the position

The Mid-level Network Engineer at ManTech International plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the security and efficiency of the organization's network infrastructure. This position involves troubleshooting complex network issues, implementing network solutions, and collaborating with cybersecurity teams to ensure a secure and reliable network environment. The role requires a strong understanding of LAN/WAN integration, TCP/IP, and various networking technologies, along with the ability to lead and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing network solutions, topologies, and services to ensure efficiency, security, and reliability of current networks
  • Working in a team environment to support effective customer service
  • Analyzing network topologies and making recommendations on network equipment and services
  • Configuring firewalls, load balancing, routing, and switching to maximize network efficiency and security
  • Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Arranging scheduled upgrades
  • Implementing configuration baselines and DoD STIGs
  • Mitigating vulnerabilities and applying patches
  • Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
  • Investigating faults in the network
  • Leading and training more junior engineers
  • Reporting network status to key stakeholders
  • Collaborating with cybersecurity personnel to analyze, respond, resolve, and recover from network vulnerabilities and issues
  • Performing other associated duties as assigned

Requirements

  • IAT Level II certification
  • A CCNA, CCNP, or other related certifications -OR- Specialty experience
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical discipline -OR- Successful completion of a certified technical/vocational school
  • A minimum of three (3) years of related experience
  • Expertise in Windows networks, Cisco Systems, and network monitoring products and technologies
  • Experience in routed, switched, and wireless LAN environments that operate Microsoft, UNIX, and OpenVMS
  • Previous experience with ServiceNow
  • Ability to document topologies and rack elevations using Visio
  • Ability to document and track network devices
  • Ability to produce high quality, timely, and accurate reports in Word or Excel
  • Ability to organize and facilitate planning and demonstrations
  • Ability to track, manage, and ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner
  • Ability to write effective procedural guidance

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with TCP/IP, HTTP, SHTTP, SMTP, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, EIGRP, OSPF, PPP, HDLC, V.35, RS-449
  • Knowledge of Ethernet standards and Internet standards
  • Experience with OTDR, cable testers, network sniffers for troubleshooting
  • Experience with Cisco Catalyst access and Nexus core switches
  • Experience with Cisco ASR and ISR routers
