About the position

The Mid-Level Propulsion Engineer will support the JETS II contract in Houston, Texas, focusing on propulsion and fluid systems for space applications. This role involves collaboration with national and international customers, contributing to the design, development, and certification of propulsion systems, and resolving unique challenges in propulsion subsystems.

Responsibilities

• Support NASA JSC EP4 Branch with propulsion engineering tasks.
• Provide support to national and international customers for Gateway and International Space, visiting vehicles, and Commercial Crew customers.
• Demonstrate knowledge in the design and development of ground test and space flight systems related to propulsion and fluid systems.
• Write technical and progress reports covering assigned tasks for other technical groups and agencies.
• Resolve unique or novel problems related to Propulsion Subsystems.
• Support flight Anomaly Resolution review and In-Flight Investigation review, solving propulsion questions with limited information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of spacecraft propulsion experience with a focus on mechanical aspects.
• Experience in the design, assembly, testing, certification, and operation of space propulsion systems and components.
• Experience coordinating space propulsion systems requirements verification and validation between multiple organizations.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical system design, engineering drawings, material selection, testing, and office software.
• Confident in knowledge and experience, able to discuss propulsion topics with subject matter experts.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiar with JSC organizations, processes, and procedures.
• Familiarity with the NASA JSC Engineering Life Cycle process.
