About the position

The Mid-Level Propulsion Engineer will support the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) contract at Johnson Space Center, focusing on propulsion systems for space missions. This role involves working with national and international customers, contributing to the design and development of propulsion and fluid systems, and resolving unique propulsion-related issues. The position emphasizes collaboration with various technical disciplines and requires strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Report to NASA JSC EP4 Branch
  • Provide support to national and international customers for Gateway and International Space, visiting vehicles, and Commercial Crew customers
  • Possess knowledge in component and system certification and the impacts of component design and operating environment on certification
  • Write technical and progress reports covering assigned tasks
  • Resolve unique or novel problems related to Propulsion Subsystems
  • Support flight Anomaly Resolution review and In-Flight Investigation review
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in spacecraft propulsion
  • Minimum 5 years of spacecraft propulsion experience with a focus on mechanical aspects
  • Experience in the design, assembly, testing, certification, and operation of space propulsion systems and components
  • Experience coordinating space propulsion systems requirements verification and validation between multiple organizations
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical system design, engineering drawings, material selection, testing, and office software
  • Excellent organizational skills and communication skills.
