About the position

The Mid-Level RF Design Engineer will support the Naval Research Lab (NRL) by designing and developing RF circuits, particularly focusing on power amplifiers for transmitters. This role combines on-site and remote work, with occasional travel, and offers the opportunity to take a technical lead on innovative RF circuit designs.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop RF circuits, focusing on power amplifiers for transmitters.
• Work on RF amplifiers for Software Defined Radios (SDRs), with potential designs up to 1 kW amplifiers.
• Utilize Advanced Design System (ADS) Software, Microsoft Office, and/or HFSS for simulation and design.
• Perform analog and PCB layout/schematic design using ORCAD, kiCAD, or related software packages.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design specifications are met.
• Maintain and update design documentation and reports.

Requirements

• Experience with RF circuit design at the board level (RF is Analog).
• Experience with the design of RF amplifiers, ideally high power RF amplifiers for power transmitters.
• Experience with high-reliability systems like DoD, aerospace, etc.
• Experience with ADS for simulating RF designs (or similar software).
• Proficiency in RF simulation and analog design.
• Proficiency in PCB layout using ORCAD or related schematic capture tools.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in board-level RF design.
• Some experience as a technical subsystem lead or capability to work at this level.
• Extensive experience in amplifier design, specifically power amplifiers.
• Active Top Secret clearance or willingness to obtain one.
• Desired experience with MATLAB.
