About the position

We are looking for a Stormwater/Drainage Engineer who is passionate and excited about stormwater/drainage design and thrives working with a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team in developing practical and creative stormwater solutions while meeting project requirements and environmental commitment. In this position, the Stormwater/Drainage Engineer will work on stormwater management, stormwater facility design, green infrastructure/low-impact design, and linear drainage design for WSDOT highway and Sound Transit projects, fish passage improvement projects, and local city and county roadway and pedestrian improvement projects around the Puget Sound region. Responsibilities

  • Prepare stormwater/drainage plans, calculations, reports, exhibits, and other deliverables.
  • Create hydrologic and hydraulic models that aid in the design of stormwater conveyance, treatment, and flow control facilities.
  • Perform fieldwork, data collection and analysis, and documentation for stormwater projects.
  • Assist in the development of plans, specifications, and engineers' estimates.
  • Assist in the development of concept-level design and estimate.
  • Provide design solutions for projects within budget and time schedules, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and client and Osborn Consulting standards.
  • Provide support to the Project Manager for the coordination and development of all project deliverables, QA/QC documentation, internal coordination, and task management.
  • Mentor and train junior staff.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Washington State Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or PE license, or ability to obtain the PE license within 6 months.
  • 3+ years of experience in the design and implementation of civil design projects focused on stormwater, drainage, and/or surface water.
  • Experience working on PS&E project delivery.
  • Hydraulic and hydrologic modeling experience using MGSFlood, WWHM, SWMM, HY-8, etc.
  • Experience working with CADD software, for example: ArcGIS, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, etc.
  • Knowledge and understanding of rules and regulations that inform stormwater design.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and technical report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage design tasks.
  • Ability to thrive and make an impact in a fast-paced environment: assertive, resourceful, and a collaborative team member.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience and knowledge of WSDOT or Sound Transit design standards and direct highway drainage experience.
  • WSDOT Highway Runoff Manual (HRM) training certification.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D, Microstation, InRoads/OpenRoads.
  • Familiarity with developing Temporary Erosion and Sediment Control Plans and Construction Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans.
  • Active participation in industry organizations such as APWA, ASCE, WTS, etc.
