LJB's structural engineers and designers have earned a reputation as experts in cost-efficient structural design including tilt-up and steel detailing. We are the structural designer of choice for architects, general contractors, and owners throughout North America. We are looking for candidates to fill the position of Structural Engineer in our Charlotte, NC office for our Buildings Practice. The structural engineer will analyze, design, plan, and create structural components and structural systems to achieve tilt-up design goals for LJB clients. As a Mid Level Structural Engineer, you will independently complete structural calculations for structural systems including superstructures, foundations, and floor slabs. You will assist with the preparation of construction documents needed for vertical building structures and coordinate with design staff to ensure accurate document and drawing production. Communication with clients regarding project issues and attending meetings under the direction of a supervisor will be part of your responsibilities. You will also be responsible for maintaining technical knowledge through completion of various training initiatives, including attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, and attending in-house systems/management training. In addition to these essential functions, you will have the opportunity to analyze situations and identify ways to improve efficiency, react quickly and calmly to high-pressure situations, and work independently and collaboratively in team settings. Occasional visits to work sites to monitor project progress and report findings will be required, along with the ability to meet all safety requirements when visiting a work site. There may be occasional travel required, and you should be open to future growth of your position into a Project Manager role, if desired. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
