About the position

The Mid-Level Technical Editor position at Bluehawk, LLC involves providing strategic all-source analysis on various aspects of regional militaries, security forces, and their associated political structures. This role is crucial in ensuring that intelligence products are not only accurate but also presented in a clear and coherent manner. The editor will be responsible for reviewing intelligence documents for grammatical correctness, logical flow, and adherence to agency publication standards. This includes ensuring that the style and format of the documents conform to established guidelines and that the language used is consistent with the specialized vocabulary relevant to the subject matter. In addition to editing for grammar and style, the Technical Editor will amend draft tables, tone boxes, and graphics to ensure that they support the accompanying text. This role requires close collaboration with authors to revise products for better narrative organization and to negotiate further revisions as necessary. The editor will work under strict deadlines to ensure that intelligence products are published accurately and in a timely manner. A critical part of the job involves checking citations against original sources to verify their correct usage, which is essential for maintaining the integrity of the intelligence analysis produced. The position demands a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under pressure, as well as a strong understanding of the intelligence community's analytic standards and tradecraft. The ideal candidate will have a background in writing, editing, or intelligence analysis within an intelligence community organization, and will be expected to support shift work during early morning hours.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews intelligence products for proper grammar, punctuation, and syntax, as well as for logic, clarity, and consistency.
  • Ensures that style and format conform to agency publication standards and that language presentation is consistent with prescribed style guides and specialized vocabulary of subject matter fields.
  • Amends draft tables, tone boxes, and graphics to ensure the content supports and is consistent with the accompanying text.
  • Ensures proper classification markings in accordance with IC guidance.
  • Works with authors to revise products for narrative organization, and negotiates further revisions as needed.
  • Works under strict deadlines to accurately edit and publish intelligence products in a routine and timely manner.
  • Checks citations against original sources to verify correct usage.

Requirements

  • Must have an active TS/SCI security clearance with CI Poly or willing to obtain a CI Poly.
  • 3+ years of experience as a writer, editor, or intelligence analyst in an IC organization.
  • Experience with producing all-source intelligence analysis and managing the production of analysis products.
  • Ability to proofread, edit, and correct text for style and accuracy.
  • Ability to adhere to IC analytic standards and analytic tradecraft standards as defined in Intelligence Community Directives (ICD) 203 Analytic Standards and ICD 206 Sourcing Requirements.
  • Ability to prepare intelligence assessments and other written products with an emphasis on logical argumentation and analytic clarity.
  • Ability to support shift work 0300 - 1100.
