About the position

Koniag Government Services is seeking a Mid-Level WordPress Developer to provide technical leadership and support for web development projects for the U.S. Department of State and its various platforms. This role involves collaborating with team members, mentoring junior developers, and developing solutions in an agile environment. The position is remote and requires the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Build, test, and maintain front-end components using CSS/SCSS, HTML, and Javascript.
  • Ensure all front-end code complies with WCAG 2 / Section 508 accessibility standards.
  • Collaborate with the team to resolve back-end issues, such as WordPress plugin configuration and custom PHP functionality.
  • Assist with back-end tasks including custom plugin development and troubleshooting.
  • Field help desk tickets when escalated to the development team and provide timely responses.
  • Assist with migrating existing themes to new USWDS-compliant themes.
  • Use tooling such as ArgoCD and WordPress VIP tooling to manage environments and configurations.
  • Assist with security efforts requiring configuration and documentation to meet NIST 800-53 standards.
  • Integrate third-party APIs and applications.
  • Conduct user testing and research to improve user experience.
  • Document the architecture, design, interfaces, APIs, and algorithms of all developed code.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Experience with WordPress, WordPress Multisite, and various WordPress plugins.
  • Strong knowledge of front-end technologies including CSS, HTML, and Javascript.
  • Experience with back-end development including custom plugin development and API integrations.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and consulting skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AWS, Google Analytics, and Git Repository.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Scrum.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices.
