About the position

The Mid Program and Budget Analyst will support the Department of State (DoS) client in Washington, DC, focusing on budget coordination, financial analysis, and data management. This role involves maintaining budget systems, resolving discrepancies in budgetary data, and assisting with various documentation related to foreign assistance funds. The analyst will also track funding requests, ensure compliance with legislative goals, and support the budget team in presenting analyses of foreign assistance needs and trends.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate inter-agency budget process between all U.S. government agencies receiving foreign assistance funding.
  • Maintain the office's budget information systems and records, including correcting and updating data.
  • Analyze and resolve budgetary data to reconcile various data sources.
  • Assist with data analysis, including entering and validating data.
  • Coordinate and track U.S. foreign assistance funds and their alignment to U.S. policies.
  • Assist budget team with presentation of analyses of foreign assistance needs, trends, opportunities, and overages.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain analytics systems to simplify complex problems.
  • Identify patterns and trends in data sets and collaborate with other divisions.
  • Provide administrative and troubleshooting support for Salesforce and other systems.
  • Monitor and respond to emails directed to shared mailboxes and log tasks.
  • Provide guidance on programming in support of global key issues and directives.
  • Support EUR and SCA bureaus on attribution and tracking of global Earmarks and Directives.
  • Prepare briefing checklists, letters, reports, agendas, and meeting minutes.
  • Design databases or data collection tools and assist in creating research reports and presentations.
  • Edit program documents and maintain core documents related to the program.
  • May travel one to two times a year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and/or more than five years of experience in international affairs, business management, accounting, or related fields.
  • Over three years of experience in international affairs, financial management, or accounting.
  • At least three years of experience in budgeting and international affairs/foreign policy.
  • Two years of experience with Tableau or Power BI for dashboards and visualization.
  • Experience working with data/financial management and visualization projects within the Department of State or similar agencies.
  • Experience with R and Python for data analysis.
  • Experience working with large datasets.
  • Four or more years of experience in administrative and/or budget-related tasks.
  • Advanced skills in SharePoint, Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications, including VBA.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and consistent reporting capabilities.
  • Experience coordinating and tracking documents.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate activities in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.
