About the position

The Mid Program and Budget Analyst position at Akima, LLC involves supporting the Department of State (DoS) in budget coordination, financial analysis, and data management. The role requires maintaining budget systems, resolving discrepancies, and assisting in the preparation of various budget-related documents. The analyst will also track foreign assistance funds, support inter-agency communication, and contribute to the development of analytical systems for budgetary needs in Europe, Eurasia, and Central Asia.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate inter-agency budget process between all U.S. government agencies receiving foreign assistance funding.
  • Maintain the office's budget information systems and records, including correcting and updating data.
  • Analyze and resolve budgetary data discrepancies.
  • Assist with data analysis, including data entry and validation.
  • Track U.S. foreign assistance funds and their alignment to U.S. policies.
  • Assist budget team with presentations of analyses of foreign assistance needs and trends.
  • Develop and maintain analytics systems for budgetary data.
  • Identify patterns and trends in data sets and collaborate with other teams.
  • Provide administrative support for Salesforce and other cloud-based systems.
  • Monitor and respond to shared mailbox inquiries on a rotational basis.
  • Prepare briefing materials, reports, and responses to interagency inquiries.
  • Design databases or data collection tools and assist in research report creation.
  • Edit program documents and maintain core program information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or more than five years of experience in international affairs, business management, or accounting.
  • Over three years of experience in international affairs, financial management, or related fields.
  • At least three years of experience in budgeting and international affairs.
  • Two years of experience with Tableau or Power BI for data visualization.
  • Experience with R and Python for data analysis.
  • Experience working with large datasets and financial management projects.
  • Advanced skills in SharePoint, Excel, and Microsoft Office applications, including VBA.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience within the Department of State or USAID in foreign assistance.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate activities across locations.
