About the position

ECS is seeking a Mid System Administrator to work in our Boyers, PA office. This position is contingent upon contract award. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in installing and configuring hardware and software, monitoring system performance, and troubleshooting issues. The role requires expert-level knowledge of core infrastructure services and functions, including virtualization (VMWare), DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory. Additionally, the candidate must possess experience with scripting and automation tools, as well as knowledge of Azure cloud key services. The Mid System Administrator will be responsible for leading successful deployments of enterprise-class solutions and producing technical documents and engineering diagrams. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as the role is team-focused and collaborative. The candidate should have experience administering Windows Server in an enterprise environment and deploying services in both Microsoft Azure and VMware environments. A solid understanding of Microsoft Windows Server is also required. In this role, the candidate will install and ensure compatibility of new hardware and software components within the network, configure and maintain back-end infrastructure systems, and deploy and maintain Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) systems for certificate management. The administrator will also manage data storage for multiple NetApp storage systems, ensuring data availability, protection, and capacity planning across multiple SANs. Other responsibilities include deploying and maintaining VDI platforms, designing secure DNS solutions, and administering Azure Cloud services, including Entra ID and Azure Automation. The role also involves managing IT audits and responding to findings, as well as performing additional server administration duties as outlined by the on-site Federal Team Lead(s).

Responsibilities

  • Install and configure hardware and software components within the network.

  • Support and maintain multiple VMware vSphere and NSX environments.
  • Engineer and implement designs related to IT infrastructure upgrades and enhancements.
  • Administer Azure Cloud services, including Entra ID and Azure Automation.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online and Teams.
  • Manage mail routing and maintain Exchange connectors.
  • Deploy and maintain Active Directory Federation Services and Azure Active Directory Connect.
  • Design, implement, and maintain Access Packages within Azure Active Directory.
  • Manage Teams phone and administer OPM's Teams Calling solution.
  • Deploy, maintain, and operate COTS products supporting OPM business units.
  • Deploy, maintain, and operate complex SQL environments supporting multiple production applications.
  • Design, implement, and maintain RHEL servers and RHEL Satellite.
  • Perform account and certificate management to support PIV cards and user access.
  • Manage IT audits, respond to findings, and compile POA&M documentation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in system administration.
  • Significant experience installing and configuring hardware and software.
  • Proficiency in monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues.
  • Expert-level knowledge of core infrastructure services and functions, including virtualization (VMWare), DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools.
  • Knowledge of Azure cloud key services.
  • Demonstrable history of leading successful deployments of enterprise-class solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
