About the position

LMI is seeking a skilled Mid or Senior-level Space Domain Operations Analyst with orbital warfare experience to support U.S. Space Command's advanced analytics staff. The role involves modeling, simulation, and analysis across USSPACECOM's Unified Command Plan responsibilities, requiring critical thinking, relationship management, and a strong understanding of the space domain.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with USSPACECOM senior leaders to understand their space-related analysis needs and translate them into work products.
  • Manage and translate current and Future Operational Concepts (FOCs) into representative simulations for assessing space systems and capabilities.
  • Develop and curate model-based system engineering (MBSE) Systems Modeling Language (SysML) data models for modeling and analysis.
  • Participate in Agile analytical sprint processes and ceremonies.
  • Collaborate with software developers to ensure MS&A frameworks accurately represent platforms and systems.
  • Guide advanced analytical approaches in collaboration with data scientists and other experts.
  • Refine MBSE data in collaboration with Government-Contractor-FFRDC teams and SMEs.
  • Research technical development aspects to ensure accuracy of platform and system models.
  • Demonstrate analytical products to customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 5 - 15 years of professional experience or master's degree in a STEM field with 3 - 13 years of professional experience.
  • Space domain operations experience in areas such as astrodynamics, orbital mechanics, and satellite communications.
  • Relevant joint space warfighting experience in an operational or science and technology organization.
  • Exposure to modeling, simulation, and analysis tools.
  • Proven track record of engaging with customers to create innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Ability to brief USSPACECOM senior leaders on findings and models.
  • Active security clearance at the Top Secret level with Sensitive Compartmented Information eligibility.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in a Joint Environment or Combatant Command.
  • Experience with the National Space Defense Center (NSDC) or Space Delta 9.
  • Graduate of Space 100, 200, or 300.
  • Ability to code in Python or MATLAB for modeling and simulation.
  • Experience with database languages, preferably MongoDB.
  • Planning or participating in joint military utility assessments.
  • Experience with Systems Modeling Language (SysML).
  • Experience using Scrum methodology.
  • Experience with Model Based System Engineering software, preferably Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Experience with orbital analysis visualization tools like Systems ToolKit or FreeFlyer.
