About the position

Palm Glades Preparatory Academy is seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle and High School Spanish Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters student achievement and growth. This position requires the teacher to utilize effective classroom procedures that support teaching and learning, ensuring that all students are engaged in grade-level appropriate learning experiences. The teacher will design lessons that promote active learning, hands-on application, and meaningful conversations among students, thereby enhancing their understanding of the Spanish language and culture. In this role, the teacher will employ both formal and informal assessment strategies to maximize student achievement and will be expected to modify instructional strategies based on assessment data. The teacher will collect and utilize data for continual improvement, ensuring that each child's needs are met. Regular communication with parents regarding student progress is essential, as is the timely submission of collaborative lesson plans. The teacher will also maintain an updated digital gradebook and promote a work ethic that encourages both independent and collaborative learning among students. Participation in professional learning communities and attendance at professional development opportunities is crucial for the teacher to fully meet the diverse needs of students. The teacher will use various assessment tools and strategies, including observations, continuums of development, portfolios, and daily assessments, to inform instructional decisions for individual students. Accurate record-keeping as required by law and administrative regulations is also a key responsibility of this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science in Education or related field required.
  • Florida Teaching Certification in the Subject Area required.
  • Experience in classroom teaching.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in teaching Spanish at the middle and high school levels.
  • Advanced degree in education or related field.
