About the position

MICDS is seeking a versatile instructor to cover Spanish substitute teaching in both the Middle and Upper School divisions. The substitute will execute lessons provided by the classroom teacher and manage other duties as specified. The ideal candidate will have Spanish teaching experience and familiarity with a 1:1 laptop environment. The candidate should bring a collaborative nature and a student-centered approach to the classroom, as well as a commitment to culturally-responsive teaching practices to meet the needs of a diverse group of learners. The substitute teacher will implement lesson plans while ensuring the integrity of academic time and motivating students to learn and participate. Maintaining discipline and classroom control is essential to foster a safe and positive environment for all students in accordance with school policies. The substitute will oversee and manage the routines and materials as directed by the classroom teacher and comply with and support school regulations and policies. Other related duties may be assigned by the department chair or division director.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans while ensuring the integrity of academic time and motivating students to learn and participate.

• Comply with and support school regulations and policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the department chair or division director.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in subject matter preferred.
• Teaching experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in an environment that embraces a diverse community of students, educators, parents, and alums.
• Experience working in a one-to-one laptop environment or relevant technology skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must enjoy working and learning with children.
