About the position

The Middle Office Specialist plays a crucial role in the Middle Office team, focusing on non-trade related security processing. This includes managing corporate actions, preparing common trust fund valuations, and ensuring the accurate setup and pricing of securities. The position emphasizes superior customer service and effective operational support, with responsibilities that require attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

  • Research, evaluate and process mandatory and voluntary corporate actions in a timely manner.
  • Set up, maintain, and validate new and existing securities in the global security database.
  • Price securities accurately on a daily basis and at month end.
  • Prepare monthly Common Trust Fund valuations and annual audit reporting.
  • Create and load proxy files and distribute monthly reports.
  • Execute free asset movement via ACAT and Non-ACAT processing.
  • Monitor and resolve custodial issues relating to incoming/outgoing accounts.
  • Update account cost basis and step-up basis per federal regulations.
  • Process client electronic forms and files timely and accurately.
  • Monitor group distribution email and ensure timely responses.
  • Provide exceptional client service through timely analysis and resolution of inquiries.
  • Create, update, and review procedures and daily checklists.
  • Cross-train to provide effective backups during peer absences.
  • Assist in the implementation and training of new clients.
  • Reconcile and clear cash and custodian daily exceptions.
  • Respond to client or staff inquiries or issues promptly.
  • Contact custodians, clients, and vendors for problem resolution.
  • Maintain effective work relationships with peers and management.
  • Prepare and distribute status reports and project updates to management.
  • Test custom and release software enhancements related to job duties.
  • Participate in disaster recovery tests and special projects.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of trust accounting principles and experience in the securities industry.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills.
  • Accurate data entry skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse client base of financial professionals.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a high-volume environment with minimal supervision.
  • College or Technical Education or equivalent experience.
