About the position

Lighthouse Community Public Schools (LCPS) is seeking a dedicated Middle School Art Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. This position is integral to our mission of providing exceptional educational opportunities to traditionally underserved students of color. As an Art Teacher, you will play a crucial role in fostering a creative and inclusive environment that encourages students to express themselves and engage deeply with the arts. You will be responsible for teaching multiple sections of 6th to 8th-grade art electives, leading a grade-level Crew/advisory, and ensuring that all students are at the center of their own learning. In this role, you will implement culturally responsive pedagogy, which emphasizes high expectations and an assets-based approach for every student. You will plan and deliver standards-based curriculum and lessons that are learner-driven and differentiated to meet the needs of all students, including those with IEPs and English Language Learners. Your teaching will be supported by rigorous assessments that help identify students' areas of growth and mastery of learning objectives. Additionally, you will contribute to building a positive classroom culture that is supportive and learning-centered, focusing on nurturing relationships among students, families, and the community.
