About the position

The Middle School Art Teacher at Atlas Schools is responsible for delivering a rigorous and standards-aligned art curriculum to students in a K-12 charter school environment. This role emphasizes educational excellence, character development, and community engagement, aiming to empower students for success in their post-graduate paths. The teacher will engage with families, participate in professional development, and contribute to a supportive and inclusive school culture.

Responsibilities

  • Execute rigorous and standards-aligned curriculum in visual arts.
  • Deliver daily, weekly, interim, and end-of-year assessments to capture student learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and instructional coaches with a growth mindset.
  • Provide classroom coverage during colleagues' absences, compensated additionally.
  • Participate in professional development and learning opportunities as required.
  • Draft and revise student report cards to provide meaningful information for families.
  • Engage with families to support an equitable and inclusive school environment.
  • Attend quarterly parent/teacher conferences and engage with families.
  • Support the summer REACH beyond program.
  • Participate in field trips, academic support sessions, community building events, and other required programs.
  • Support various duties including arrival, dismissal, and lunch supervision.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Hold a sincere interest and expertise in visual or fine arts.
  • Meet 'in-field status' by fulfilling at least one qualification within 6 months of hire: possess an active CDE license with endorsement, hold a Bachelor's Degree in fine art/visual arts, have completed 24 semester hours of coursework in visual arts, or have passed PRAXIS 5135 within 10 years.
  • Ability to pass all required background screenings.
