About the position

Bennett Day School is looking for dynamic and innovative part-time coaches for various middle school sports, including cross country, volleyball, and soccer. The role involves guiding student-athletes in mastering the fundamentals of their respective sports while promoting character development, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Coaches will work closely with students to instill a love for the sport and encourage personal growth beyond athletics.

Responsibilities

• Guide student-athletes in mastering the fundamentals, rules, and strategies of their chosen sport.
• Cultivate strong character, sportsmanship, and teamwork among student-athletes.
• Foster a deep appreciation for the sport and encourage lifelong personal growth.
• Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, and athletic department administration.
• Conduct practices and manage game schedules.

Requirements

• Coaching experience at the middle school level is strongly preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the sport is required, with competitive playing experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with middle school-aged student-athletes and their parents.
• Experience with IESA/IHSA rules and a commitment to youth sports preferred.
• Excellent leadership, written, and communication skills are essential.
• CPR/AED Certification strongly preferred.
• ISBE or ASEP/NFHS certification preferred.
• Ability to pass a background check.
