About the position

The Middle School Boys Soccer Coach at YES Prep Hobby Secondary is a part-time position focused on coaching and mentoring student-athletes. The role emphasizes the importance of academics alongside athletics, ensuring that student-athletes maintain their academic progress while participating in sports. The coach will be responsible for organizing practices and games, monitoring student-athlete performance, and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all participants.

Responsibilities

• Organizing practices and games
• Monitoring the academic progress of student athletes throughout the school year
• Issuing and collecting uniforms
• Providing an orientation of a sound program to all student athlete participants
• Communicating with coaches and athletic director on the progression of the student athletes and the team
• Ensuring that academics have priority over athletics
• Being on time to all scheduled athletic events
• Practicing with a plan and purpose
• Training each student-athlete to be in the best physical condition possible
• Putting the team first, and the individual second
• Staying with the team until the last student-athlete and their parents/guardians have left
• Collecting athlete documentation such as physicals and other important paperwork in compliance with State and YES Prep policies
• Performing additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 0-3 years of coaching experience
• Strong knowledge of specific sport including rules, terminology, etc.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution
• Continued Education in specific sport
• Coached specific sport
• Experience working with kids
