About the position
The Teacher position at Ohio Virtual Academy (OHVA) is a full-time role responsible for delivering online education to students. The teacher will provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process to meet individual student needs. This role requires collaboration with students, parents, and other educators to ensure academic progress and success, with a focus on maintaining a professional home office environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver specific course content in an online environment.
- Monitor student progress through the learning management system.
- Communicate high expectations and show active interest in students' achievement.
- Conduct live synchronous teaching for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests.
- Collaborate with other teachers regarding instruction and resources.
- Submit grades and maintain a grade book ensuring academic honesty.
- Establish and maintain positive rapport with families and communicate regularly with students and learning coaches.
- Organize social and educational activities for students and families.
- Travel to testing sites to proctor state exams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Six months of student teaching experience
- Meet requirements for Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) in subject area under No Child Left Behind (NCLB)
- Ohio English Teaching Certificate
- Pedagogical knowledge of content being taught
- Ability to work independently for 40+ hours per week
- Access to reliable high-speed internet
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to maintain teacher certification and professional development hours.
