About the position

The Middle School Exceptional Education Teacher at East End Prep is responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in a full inclusion classroom setting. This role emphasizes collaboration with other educators, family engagement, and maintaining accurate IEP records to ensure that all students receive the support they need to succeed academically. The teacher will also participate in professional development and uphold the school's core values while fostering a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, supervise, and lead a cohort of students with Individualized Education Plans.
  • Adapt classroom work in collaboration with other teachers for full inclusion classrooms.
  • Write, maintain, and manage accurate IEP records and paperwork associated with the exceptional education process.
  • Implement IEP accommodations for students.
  • Design and implement high-quality lessons and classroom instruction.
  • Provide families with guidance and resources to support their scholar's schoolwork at home.
  • Serve as a point of contact for families regarding academic progress and school information.
  • Track and input daily student behavior feedback to share with families.
  • Uphold East End Prep's core values at all times.
  • Own arrival duty, recess or lunch duty, and dismissal duty as assigned.
  • Attend parent-teacher conferences and other school-wide events.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development programming.

Requirements

  • Active Tennessee teaching license with a Special Education endorsement.
  • Proven track record of high achievement in the classroom.
