Middle School History Teacher

About the position

The Teacher position at Ohio Virtual Academy (OHVA) is a full-time role responsible for delivering online education to students. The educator will provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process to meet individual student needs. This role requires collaboration with students, parents, and other educators to ensure academic progress and success in a virtual environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specific course content in an online environment.
• Monitor student progress through the learning management system.
• Conduct live synchronous teaching for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests.
• Communicate high expectations and show active interest in students' achievement.
• Establish and maintain positive rapport with families and regularly communicate with students and learning coaches.
• Organize social and educational activities for students and families.
• Travel to testing sites to proctor state exams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
• Six months of student teaching experience.
• Meet requirements for Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) in subject area under No Child Left Behind (NCLB).
• Pedagogical knowledge of content being taught.
• Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week.
• Access to reliable high-speed internet.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

Benefits

• Base salary of $40,000 plus eligibility for a performance bonus.
