About the position

The Middle School History Teacher is a state certified educator responsible for delivering course content in an online environment. This role involves providing instruction, support, and guidance to students, managing the learning process, and focusing on individual student needs. The teacher monitors student progress, collaborates with parents and learning coaches, and participates in school functions and state testing as required. This position is full-time and typically requires working from home while maintaining a professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of students' academic progress and attendance, communicating high expectations and showing active interest in student achievement.
  • Prepare students for high stakes standardized tests.
  • Conduct live synchronous teaching for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
  • Provide asynchronous support, including planning course objectives and preparing learning plans.
  • Collaborate with colleagues regarding instruction, resources, and interventions for students' needs.
  • Augment course content according to prescribed policies and procedures using appropriate tools.
  • Submit grades and maintain a grade book, ensuring academic honesty and integrity.
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with families and regularly communicate with students and learning coaches.
  • Organize social and educational activities for students and families, including virtual clubs and outings.
  • Travel to testing sites to proctor state exams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Six months of student teaching experience
  • Meet requirements for Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) in subject area under No Child Left Behind (NCLB)
  • Ohio History Teaching Certificate
  • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
  • Access to reliable high-speed internet
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to pass required background check

Benefits

  • Base salary of $40,000
