About the position

The Middle School Interventionist position at Providence Public Schools District (PPSD) is designed for skilled educators who are passionate about supporting middle school students in their academic and social-emotional development. This role involves providing targeted interventions in math and reading, working closely with students in both one-on-one and small group settings. The position emphasizes the importance of differentiated instruction and collaboration with other educators to enhance student outcomes and close achievement gaps among diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted tier 2 and 3 interventions to students in math and social-emotional skills.
• Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of best practices in reading and early math.
• Differentiate instruction by developing, selecting, and modifying instructional plans and materials.
• Promote a conducive school atmosphere for the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students.
• Monitor and evaluate student outcomes, maintaining appropriate records and following required procedures.
• Participate in a professional community including planning, professional development, and self-reflection.
• Supervise students in various settings, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Collaborate with math-focused teachers in data analysis and lesson planning.
• Communicate and interact professionally with students, colleagues, parents, and the community.
• Continuously develop teaching practices and support colleagues in their development.
• Support the Principal and district leadership team.

Requirements

• 2 or more years of teaching experience in a classroom preferred.
• Proficiency in early literacy skills preferred.
• RIDE Certification in one of the following: Elementary Education Teacher, Middle Grades English Teacher, Middle Grades Math Teacher, Secondary Grades English Teacher, Secondary Grades Math Teacher, All Grades Reading Specialist, All Grades English to Speakers of Other Languages Teacher, or Middle Grades Bilingual and Dual Language Education Teacher.
