About the position

GEO 21st Century Charter School in Gary is actively seeking highly motivated and experienced Language Arts Teachers to join our team at the middle school level. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a strong background in language arts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and meet the needs of diverse learners
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters student learning and growth
• Assess student progress and provide timely feedback to students and parents/guardians
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement interdisciplinary units and projects
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in language arts education
• Communicate regularly with parents
• Continually assess student progress toward mastery of standards and keep students and parents well informed of student progress by collecting and tracking data, providing daily feedback, weekly assessments, and occasional parent/teacher conferences
• Work with the Special Education teachers and administration to serve special needs students in the classroom
• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom you are responsible
• Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
• Valid Indiana Professional Educator or Initial Practitioner certification in Language Arts (Substitute licenses & Emergency Permits are not accepted)
• Experience teaching middle school students
• Strong knowledge of language arts curriculum and instructional strategies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents/guardians
