The Middle School Math Teacher, Long-Term Substitute position at Seekonk Public Schools is designed to provide comprehensive learning experiences in Mathematics for students in grades 5-8. This role is guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards, ensuring that all educational requirements are met. The position is expected to last from approximately November 14, 2024, to January 9, 2025, at Dr. Kevin M. Hurley Middle School. The teacher will be responsible for creating a positive and engaging classroom environment that fosters student learning and development. In this role, the teacher will develop and implement curriculum plans that align with the educational standards set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. This includes preparing lesson plans that accommodate the diverse needs of students, particularly those with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or 504 Plans. The teacher will utilize various instructional strategies, materials, and technologies to enhance the learning experience and ensure that all students are able to achieve their academic goals. The teacher will also be responsible for assessing student progress through formative and summative assessments, using the results to inform instruction and improve student achievement. Establishing open lines of communication with students and their parents is crucial, as is maintaining a professional relationship with colleagues and community members. The teacher will serve as a positive role model, demonstrating sound behavior management practices and adhering to school policies and regulations. Additionally, if a Teaching Assistant (Paraprofessional) is assigned to the classroom, the teacher will provide direction and monitor their activities. Other duties may be assigned as per the SEA contract, ensuring a collaborative and supportive educational environment.
