About The Position

The Middle School Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an instructional program that fosters the intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth of students in a middle school environment. This role involves creating a conducive learning atmosphere, maintaining high expectations for student behavior, and employing various instructional techniques to meet diverse student needs. The teacher will also engage with parents and the community, uphold school policies, and contribute to the professional development of the educational environment.

Requirements

  • Valid Kentucky Teacher Certificate for Middle School
  • Statement of Eligibility for Middle School MATH
  • Experience with students in area of certification
  • Basic computer skills including use of Google, email, and websites
  • Knowledge of subject matter in area of assignments
  • Understanding of policies and objectives of assigned programs
  • Familiarity with curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Short and long-range planning techniques applicable to area of specialty
  • Record keeping skills
  • Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations related to assigned activities
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Pedagogy in area of certification.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes at designated times.
  • Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
  • Prepares for classes and provides documented evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain high expectations of classroom behavior.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet individual student needs.
  • Implements the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
  • Takes necessary precautions to protect students and materials.
  • Diagnoses learning abilities and evaluates student progress regularly.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records as required by law and district policy.
  • Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules and regulations.
  • Makes provisions for availability to students and parents outside instructional hours.
  • Works cooperatively with other teachers and supervises students during activities.
  • Attends faculty meetings and serves on committees as assigned.
  • Cooperates with staff in planning instructional goals and methods.
  • Assists in selecting instructional materials and equipment.
  • Shares responsibility for co-curricular activities.
  • Establishes communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
  • Maintains cooperative relations with others.
  • Pursues professional growth in accordance with regulations.
  • Represents the school positively in the community.
  • Maintains regular attendance during scheduled work hours.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and acts as a role model for students.
  • Administers health services to students as necessary.
  • Meets the Standards and Indicators set forth in the Certified Personnel Evaluation Plan.
  • Abides by the Professional Code of Ethics for Kentucky Certified School Personnel.
