About the position
MacDowell Preparatory Academy is seeking passionate and dedicated Middle School Math Teachers for the 2024-25 school year. The role focuses on inspiring and equipping students in a rigorous and nurturing classroom environment that prioritizes academic excellence and social-emotional development. Teachers will create a positive, achievement-oriented classroom that motivates students to reach high academic and behavioral standards while collaborating with school leadership to improve instruction and culture.
Responsibilities
- Create a positive, achievement-oriented, joyful, and data-driven classroom that excites and invests students.
- Motivate students to reach and manifest high academic and behavioral standards.
- Build learning environments of respectful, achievement-oriented, optimistic, persistent, team-oriented, and joyful learners.
- Hold all students accountable for proper diligence and behavior in and out of school.
- Collaborate with Deans and other members of the school team to improve instruction, culture, and results.
- Utilize and maximize MPA's Pacing Plan, quarterly assessments, data-analysis systems, professional development, and instructional strategies.
- Enthusiastically participate in formal and informal learning and development opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Previously Teaching Experience Required
- Teaching Certification (Preferred)
- Organizational skills
- Classroom management skills
- Mastery of and enthusiasm for the subject matter.
Nice-to-haves
- Certified Teachers Desired but will accept an uncertified candidate with willingness to seek valid state certification if needed.
