About the position

The Middle School Science Teacher at Momentum Academy is responsible for leading instruction and training for scholars in grades 5-8. This role focuses on fostering academic excellence and character development in a supportive environment, working closely with students, parents, and school administration to ensure success.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a positive, achievement-oriented learning environment for scholars.
  • Develop and implement daily instruction plans aligned with educational goals.
  • Employ creative and differentiated instructional strategies to engage students.
  • Conduct interim assessments and track student progress through data analysis.
  • Apply classroom management techniques and maintain discipline among scholars.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, behavior, and student achievement data.
  • Set measurable goals for academic progress and assessment cycles.
  • Ensure the physical safety and well-being of scholars during school functions.
  • Evaluate individual scholar progress through varied assessments.
  • Hold scholars accountable to school-wide behavioral expectations.
  • Recognize and celebrate scholar achievements and character development.
  • Build rapport with scholars, parents, and families.
  • Seek constructive feedback and professional development opportunities.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and professional development events.
  • Assist with educational or extracurricular activities outside regular hours.
  • Support scholar recruitment efforts as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Missouri Teaching Certification required (General Science 5-9 preferred).
  • 1-3 years of teaching experience, preferably in urban communities.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with school teaching platforms and technology for virtual learning.
  • Proven track record of student achievement results.
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
  • Demonstrated mastery and enthusiasm for content knowledge.
  • Strong organization, planning, and time management skills.
  • A tireless work ethic and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement.
