About the position

The Middle School Science Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and effective science instruction in a virtual environment for grades 6-8. This role involves building relationships with students, families, and learning coaches to ensure student success and progress. The teacher will manage the learning process, monitor student performance, and provide support tailored to individual student needs. The position requires a commitment to high-quality education and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance the learning experience.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of students' academic progress and attendance, communicating high expectations.
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests.
• Conduct live synchronous teaching for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
• Provide asynchronous support through emails, planning, and using data to determine student needs.
• Collaborate with local, regional, and national teams regarding instruction and resources.
• Be open to coaching from administrators and teacher trainers.
• Augment course content according to prescribed policies and procedures.
• Submit grades and maintain a grade book, ensuring academic honesty and integrity.
• Establish and maintain positive rapport with families and communicate regularly with students and learning coaches.
• Organize social and educational activities for students and families.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
• 0-1 year of related professional experience.
• Current Missouri or state-specific Middle School Science teaching license or proof of application.
• Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
