About the position

The Blake School is seeking a creative and reflective Middle School Social Studies Teacher to engage students in exploring both United States histories and global developments. The role involves collaborating with colleagues to design inquiry-based units that encourage students to investigate contemporary issues and develop essential skills in reading, research, academic conversation, and writing. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with department partners to design inquiry-based units within the grade-level curriculum.
  • Guide student inquiry about contemporary issues related to history.

  • Utilize best practices in project-based learning and historical-thinking skills.
  • Develop foundational skills in reading, research, academic conversation, and writing.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Education or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience teaching social studies or related subjects.
  • Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting.
