About the position

The Middle School Spanish Teacher position at Fort Lupton Middle School is designed for an enthusiastic educator who is passionate about teaching the Spanish language and culture to middle school students. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and learning objectives. In this position, the teacher will focus on language instruction, teaching Spanish language skills including vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and conversation. The teacher will provide instruction across various proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced, and may also offer native Spanish literacy classes. The ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students is essential, as is the use of interactive teaching methods that promote active participation and engagement. Assessment and feedback are critical components of this role. The teacher will assess student progress through various formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to guide student learning. Additionally, the teacher will communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and share best practices. Professional development is encouraged, and the teacher will stay informed about current trends and best practices in language education. This position offers opportunities for collaboration with other educators and participation in professional development activities, ensuring that the teacher remains at the forefront of educational practices in language instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement engaging and culturally relevant lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and learning objectives.
  • Teach Spanish language skills, including vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and conversation.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to engage students and promote active participation in the learning process.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate students with varying learning styles, abilities, and language backgrounds.
  • Assess student progress and proficiency in Spanish language skills through formative and summative assessments.
  • Establish a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe and motivated to participate.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to align curriculum and share best practices.
  • Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in language education and pedagogy.

Requirements

  • Minimum B. A. or B. S. in Education with K-12 or Secondary Spanish endorsement/emphasis.
  • Hold/be able to obtain Colorado Teachers' License in Spanish from Colorado Department of Education.
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure student academic success/experience in Middle School Spanish is preferred.
  • Computer and Technology skills preferred.
  • Able to work as a team member; prefer experience in middle school teaming and AVID.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish and English preferred but not required.
  • Coaching available.
