About the position

German International School Boston is seeking a part-time Spanish Teacher to instruct students in grades 6, 7, and 9 in the fundamentals of the Spanish language. This role involves teaching reading comprehension, writing, speaking, and listening skills across a range of proficiency levels. The position requires 12-20 weekly teaching hours, in addition to recess and standby duties. The school emphasizes a multilingual and multicultural learning environment, where graduates earn both a U.S. high school diploma and a German international Abitur. The part-time faculty at GISB often transition into full-time teaching positions, although this cannot be guaranteed. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about teaching and able to create an inclusive classroom environment that fosters a love for learning. The Spanish Teacher will be responsible for executing daily instructional lesson plans that are age and developmentally appropriate for all students. This includes maintaining accurate records of student work and providing constructive feedback to parents and caregivers. The teacher will also be expected to communicate effectively with students and engage in collaborative interactions with colleagues and the school community. Participation in bi-weekly assemblies, monthly staff meetings, and other necessary meetings or conferences is also required. Responsibilities

  • Instruct students in the Spanish language in middle and high school.
  • Execute daily instructional lesson plans that are age and developmentally appropriate for all students.
  • Interact respectfully with all students and convey an enthusiasm for learning in a collaborative setting.
  • Maintain accurate and transparent records of student's work and provide feedback to parents/caregivers.
  • Communicate clearly/effectively with students while facilitating an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Complete faculty recess and standby duties, as assigned by the Assistant Head of School.
  • Attend bi-weekly assemblies, monthly staff meetings and other meetings/conferences, as needed.

Requirements

  • B.A. in education, Spanish, or related field; M.A. preferred.
  • Native written and verbal communication skills in Spanish.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience teaching Spanish, preferably at the middle or high school levels.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with a dedicated staff and involved family community.

Nice-to-haves

  • German language skills are helpful though not required.
