About the position

The Middle School Special Education Teacher at Stride, Inc. is responsible for delivering specialized course content in an online environment, focusing on the individual needs of students as defined by their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This role involves providing instruction, support, and guidance to students and their families, ensuring compliance with special education requirements, and fostering an inclusive learning environment. The teacher will work collaboratively with parents and related service staff to facilitate student success and maintain a positive rapport with families.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver specific course content in an online environment for middle school students with special needs.
  • Provide instruction, support, and guidance to students as defined by their IEPs.
  • Communicate with parents and related service staff to ensure appropriate therapies are provided.
  • Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and other required documentation.
  • Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP meetings.
  • Use resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities.
  • Make modifications to lessons and assessments as specified by the IEP.
  • Ensure inclusion and success of students in the general education classroom.
  • Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards IEP goals.
  • Document all contact with parents and interventions with students.
  • Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment as needed.
  • Provide engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
  • Maintain grade book and ensure student academic integrity.
  • Prepare students for high stakes standardized tests.
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with families and communicate regularly with them.
  • Support learning coaches/parents with curricular and instructional issues in a virtual environment.
  • Travel up to 20% for professional development and student testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
  • Active state teaching license with a Special Education endorsement.
  • Ability to clear required background check.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and interpret student data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
