posted 6 months ago
Launch EL Charter School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Special Education Teacher to join our team. As part of a network of 14 EL Education schools in New York City, we are committed to providing a high-quality education to students in under-resourced communities. Our mission is to prepare students for success in college and careers through active learning experiences and character development. We believe that every student can achieve high levels of success, and we strive to create an equitable and supportive classroom environment that fosters growth and learning. In this role, you will be responsible for developing all students across EL Education's three dimensions of student achievement: Mastery of Knowledge and Skills, Character, and High-Quality Work. You will utilize the EL Education approach to planning and delivering high-quality instruction, co-teaching ELA or Social Studies, and collaborating with colleagues to create and modify materials that prioritize small group instruction. You will also track and monitor student progress, manage a caseload of students, and present on their growth at annual IEP meetings. As a Middle School Special Education Teacher at Launch, you will establish and maintain consistent classroom expectations and routines, showcase high-quality student work, and develop character by modeling and teaching our Habits of Heart and Mind. You will lead an advisory group called Crew, support students in leading Student-Led Conferences, and maintain strong relationships with students and their families. Your commitment to equity and the EL Education model will be essential in creating a joyful, collaborative, and active classroom community.
