About the position

The Middle School Special Education Teacher is responsible for delivering course content in an online environment, focusing on the individual needs of students as defined by their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This role involves providing instruction, support, and guidance to students and parents, ensuring compliance with special education requirements, and fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver specific course content in an online environment.
  • Provide instruction, support, and guidance to students with special needs.
  • Manage the learning process and focus on individual student needs as defined by IEPs.
  • Communicate with parents and related service staff to ensure appropriate therapies are provided.
  • Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and other required documentation.
  • Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP meetings.
  • Use resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities.
  • Make modifications to lessons and assessments as specified by the IEP.
  • Ensure student inclusion and success in the general education classroom.
  • Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards IEP goals.
  • Document all contact with parents and interventions with students.
  • Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment as needed.
  • Provide engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
  • Maintain a grade book and ensure student academic integrity.
  • Prepare students for high stakes standardized tests.
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with families and communicate regularly with students and parents.
  • Support learning coaches/parents with curricular and instructional issues in a virtual environment.
  • Travel up to 20% for professional development and student testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
  • Active State Special Education teaching license.
  • Six months of student teaching experience.
  • Ability to clear required background checks.

Benefits

  • Base salary around $52,000 plus eligibility for performance bonus.
