About the position

The remote Substitute Teacher is a highly qualified, state certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. This role involves providing instruction, support, and guidance to students, managing the learning process, and focusing on individual student needs. Teachers monitor student progress through Stride K12's learning management system and work closely with students and parents to advance learning toward established goals. The position requires occasional travel for school functions such as state testing.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specific course content in an online environment.
• Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
• Differentiate instruction based on student level of mastery.
• Maintain grade book ensuring student academic integrity and make placement decisions.
• Prepare students for high stakes standardized tests.
• Establish and maintain positive rapport with families and communicate regularly with students and learning coaches.
• Support learning coaches/parents with curricular and instructional issues in a virtual classroom environment.
• Travel as required for professional development and student testing.

Requirements

• State certification as an educator.
• Ability to clear required background check.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and interpret student data.
• Receptive to receiving coaching on a regular basis.
• Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
• Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week.
