About the position

The Middle School Title I Aide position at El Dorado USD 490 is a part-time, 10-month role designed to assist staff in various duties such as answering phones, grading papers, helping in classrooms, and maintaining bulletin boards. The primary purpose of this position is to support teachers in achieving their teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups, ensuring that students reach the skill levels expected of the class. The aide will help create a well-organized and smoothly functioning classroom environment that allows students to fully benefit from the instructional program and available resources.

Responsibilities

  • Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher.
  • Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students' needs.
  • Operate and care for classroom equipment used for instructional purposes.
  • Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
  • Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other instructional materials.
  • Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacher.
  • Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
  • Keep bulletin boards and other classroom displays up to date.
  • Assist with large group activities such as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.
  • Read to students, listen to students read, and engage in oral communication with students.
  • Assist in the library or media center.
  • Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and make-up work as assigned by the teacher.
  • Help students with their clothing.
  • Assist with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines when assigned.
  • Alert the regular teacher to any problems or special information about individual students.
  • Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Maintain high ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student information.
  • Participate in inservice training programs as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates literacy in reading, writing, and following directions/instructions.
  • Health and Inoculation Certificate on file.

Benefits

  • Salary is commensurate with experience; range: $12.32 - $16.63/hr.
