About the position

The Middle School Tutor position at Clyde Boyd Middle School involves providing academic support to students in grades 6-8. The tutor will work with small groups or individual students to help them achieve their educational goals, assisting with various tasks and monitoring their progress. This role is essential in fostering a supportive learning environment and may include both full-time and part-time opportunities based on the number of hours worked weekly.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring to students.
  • Monitor students during transportation and assist with boarding and disembarking.
  • Accompany students during meals and assist with eating and cleanup.
  • Assist students with motor, balance, social, and life skills.
  • Support students with personal care needs as required.
  • Monitor students during nap times and assist with classroom activities.
  • Maintain an efficient work area and assist with instructional tasks.
  • Attend IEP meetings and training as requested.
  • Alert teachers to any concerns regarding student behavior or progress.
  • Reinforce learning objectives in small groups or individually while the teacher is occupied with other students.
  • Assist in observing and recording student behavior and progress toward IEP goals.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans for individual students.
  • Supervise students in various school settings, including hallways and playgrounds.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 48 hours of college credit or passing score on the Paraprofessional Test
  • Completion of Paraprofessional Training as required by OSDE
  • CPI Certification
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Tiered Certification Certificate as specified by OSDE
  • Pass the National Criminal History Check qualifications with OSDE/OSBI
  • Associate's degree or two years of study at an institution of higher education, or pass the Oklahoma General Education Test, or pass the Praxis ParaProfessional Assessment Test with a passing score of 455.
