About the position

York Country Day School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Theatre teacher to serve as a long-term substitute during part of the 2024-2025 school year. The role involves teaching Theatre courses for grades 6-12, including Stagecraft, Acting, Musical Theatre, Improvisation, Scene Study, Lights & Sound for Theatre, and Audition Techniques. The position is set to begin approximately two weeks before the associated teacher's leave of absence, with an expected start date in March 2025.

Responsibilities

• Teach Theatre courses for grades 6-12, including Stagecraft, Acting, Musical Theatre, Improvisation, Scene Study, Lights & Sound for Theatre, and Audition Techniques.
• Foster critical thinking skills and engage students in classroom discussions.
• Promote active, student-centered learning.
• Deliver instruction both in-person and on a remote learning platform as needed.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in Theatre, English, Education, or a related field.
• Teaching experience in a relevant subject area.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous teaching experience in an independent school setting.
