About the position

The MIG Welder position at Aerotek involves performing MIG welding, fabrication, and finishing on steel storage and shipping containers. This entry-level role is essential for the production process, where containers are fabricated and repaired on-site using an automated conveyor system. The position offers weekly pay, guaranteed overtime, and an immediate start for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

• Complete MIG welding, fabrication, and finishing on steel storage/shipping containers.
• Stitch weld and full weld components and assemblies using the GMAW process.
• Read tape measures and interpret basic prints.
• Use basic hand tools and grinders as needed.
• Lay out, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines on materials according to drawings or templates.
• Drill and punch holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets.
• Fasten seams and joints together with welds, bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, and metal drive clips.
• Fabricate or alter parts at construction sites using shears, hammers, punches, and drills.
• Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces, seams, and joints of assembled parts.
• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.

Requirements

• Technical training and/or 2+ years of MIG welding experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Knowledge of oxy/acetylene and plasma cutter use is a plus.
• Familiarity with basic hand tools and grinders.
