About the position

The Mild/Moderate Teacher for the Bridges Program is responsible for planning, organizing, presenting, and evaluating a meaningful instructional program for students with mild to moderate support needs. This role involves creating a conducive learning environment, maintaining communication with students and parents, and collaborating with staff to achieve educational goals. The teacher will also be involved in continuous evaluation of student progress and upholding school policies.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs classes and pupils assigned at designated times.
  • Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
  • Prepares for classes and provides written evidence of preparation when requested.
  • Assists pupils and administrators in maintaining acceptable behavior and standards.
  • Applies a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable for diverse student capabilities.
  • Implements the District's educational philosophy and goals.
  • Takes precautions to protect pupils and school property.
  • Utilizes conference-preparation periods for instructional support activities.
  • Evaluates pupil progress consistent with established objectives and policies.
  • Maintains accurate records as required by law and district policy.
  • Upholds and enforces school rules and regulations.
  • Communicates openly with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
  • Makes oneself available for educational services as required.
  • Participates in meetings and provides professional input.
  • Collaborates with staff in planning instructional objectives and goals.
  • Plans, directs, supervises, and evaluates classified personnel assigned to the teacher.
  • Assists in selecting instructional materials and equipment.
  • Covers classes of other teachers as assigned during conference periods.
  • Performs other job-related duties to ensure student safety and security.

Requirements

  • Preliminary or Clear Education Specialist: Mild/Moderate Credential with Autism and Bridge Authorization is required.
  • Mild to Moderate Support Needs Credential is acceptable.
  • If enrolled in an Education Specialist Credential Program, proof of enrollment or a letter from the university is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with high school students.
  • Strong communication skills with students and parents.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff.
